[ He's shorter, so it's harder to keep up with her stride, but he manages. ]

I don't know, really. It's never been something I had to think about. I've worn a uniform - black, with red and gold for house colours - for the past seven years.

[ And before that, it was all Dudley's cast offs. In general, he wears whatever the wardrobe suggests: nothing to bright, nothing outlandish, colours that look tolerable on anyone. Realizing that's not an answer, he tries to get his words out:]

I like green, but I can't wear it. There's certain things associated with it back home.

There are people here from home and I think they're already on the fence about where my allegiance lies. I don't want to frighten them.

And, if you're wearing red, I don't mind going with something that will match.

[Harry laughs at the thought, but as they approach the wardrobe he realizes that he's actually looking forward to it.]

Thanks again, for doing this.

[He looks as if he's thinking a bit too hard.]

Growing up, I never had any real chance to pick out new clothes. And, well, my Uncle had some opinions about men and clothing, and I always worry they'll creep up on me and tumble out of my mouth.

Grey, shapeless, formless. He tried to garden once, but gave it up because it wasn't for "real men".

[Harry wrinkles up his nose at the thought. Vernon had seen some show and in a fit of unexpected desire to keep up with the imaginary Joneses who must've been gardening, he went and outfitted himself in the way he thought a Real Gardener ought to look. He wore it once, realized that it was actual work, and left the clothing in his closet for years after.]

He would've been born in the late fifties. 1950s, that is? And he did care, he cared very much about how other people saw him, his wife, their son.

I don't know about a decline for everyone; he was just particularly unpleasant. There are lots of nice clothes, I think, but I'm no expert. Or at the very least, there's a lot of variety.

I have the utmost confidence that you will inspire positive change, or at the very least endure until fashion comes around again.

...of course, you do have Bowie to look forward to.
