[she's called enough people in her life to assume that this is some type of fortune balancing. it comes back to her, and she takes it in stride.]

But this is one of the few times I've met someone with enough manners to introduce themselves beforehand.

Huh. I mean, that's not a bad way of looking out. I 'unno, I never like phone calls from strangers? Figured no one else would either.

Since random callers are usually scams, right?

If they're scams, you can just hang up. Or pretend that you don't speak English, or find a dozen other ways of scaring them off. I like to channel my grandparents and make people repeat themselves because I'm "hard of hearing."

I like you already. I mean, I normally just hang up, but you actually make it sound fun to get scam calls.

Is it polite? Heavens sake, no. But are they polite by calling me after I've told them to place me on the "do not call" list? Also no. It's only fair.
